My computer roster
As of Nov. 3, 2024. *Asterisk denotes broken, retired or out of commission computer.
- MM: 2020 Mac mini. My daily driver, running macOS Sonoma.
- MBP: Late 2019 13" MacBook Pro (two Thunderbolt ports). My daily driver at work.
- W541: Lenovo ThinkPad W541. My ("other") Unix machine, running OpenIndiana — a modern Unix System V derivative. Used to create portions of this website (including this page!), some writing/productivity related to my AT&T Long Lines documentation project, rendering MIDI files using TiMidity++, and more. Also used as a home server (including hosting the local version of this site), running a SMB service via Napp-it. Originally ran Windows 10.
- MintTin II: Dell Inspiron 620. Current home server, albeit not well executed. (I got the machine for free from my aunt, and wanted to do something with it.) Originally ran Windows 7, now Linux Mint Cinnamon. Retired and might be sold soon.
- MintTin*: Asus Essentio Series desktop. The long-retired former workhorse that was originally my daily driver, which was my 11th birthday present. Originally ran Windows 7 before being upgraded to Linux Mint. Retired, in "storage."
- 2010 Acer AspireOne netbook. Despite being an inexpensive, very basic netbook designed primarily just to browse the web, this computer has a sentimental place in my collection as I received it following a life-altering event during my childhood. Originally ran Windows 7 Starter. Retired.
- Performa 6200CD: 1995 Macintosh Performa 6200. Although considered to be one of the worst Macintosh computers to ever be made, this machine serves as a bridge between the modern (Intel/ARM) Mac era and the earliest (Motorola 68k) Mac era in my collection. It's my only PowerPC Mac, powered by a Motorola PowerPC XPC603 processor clocked at 75 MHz. Runs Macintosh System 7.5.1.
- Classic*: 1991 Macintosh Classic. A 1991 Macintosh Classic, my first foray into the world of classic Macs and vintage Apple hardware. Currently out of order due to a random resetting issue. Runs Macintosh System 7.1 on a BlueSCSI.
- PowerBook 165*: 1994 Macintosh PowerBook 165. Power of the 33 MHz Motorola 68030 microprocessor, combined with the versatility of Apple's Macintosh System 7.1, running in a thick laptop much lighter than the luggables before it. Runs System 7.5.3 on a BlueSCSI.
- SuperSE: Upgraded 1988 Macintosh SE. My favorite classic machine, running System 6.0.5 with a Mobius '030 upgrade card — improving the CPU to a 25 MHz Motorola 68030, and 16 MB of RAM. Often used for writing, classic Mac games, playing with early graphics and desktop publishing. Runs System 6.0.5 on a 250 MB Maxtor hard drive, with a backup running on a SCSI-2-SD.
